We first met Nadine last year at the our Wellness Day gathering. Since then, she has been in our C.O.B.R.A. Self Defense Program, our A.C.T.I.O.N. Weight Loss Program, and a regular in our kickboxing and strength training classes. We have watched Nadine achieve amazing fitness results because of her positive attitude and relentless drive to improve. For these reasons, we decided to feature Nadine in a member spotlight and take some time to talk to her about her progress and achievements.
MA Fitness: Can you tell us a little bit about yourself and your background? Before kickboxing, did you had any experience with this type of workout?
Nadine: The first picture was taken before I started MA Fitness. The second picture was taken December 2014. Before kickboxing, I did Martial Arts for 4 years. I have carried the principals that I learned from that with me. I definitely attribute my focus and discipline to this.
MA Fitness: What made you want to start taking kickboxing and how did you learn about MA Fitness?
Nadine: When I started COBRA I realized how out of shape I was in. My endurance was very short, I was extremely heavy and couldn’t catch my breathe in between activities. I learned about MA Fitness when their fitness day was posted on Facebook.
MA Fitness: You are a COBRA Self-Defense Graduate, can you tell us about your experience with that course?
Nadine: I definitely gained confidence in knowing I have a chance of defending myself if approached with danger. I am taking COBRA again, I will be a part of the academy 204.
MA Fitness: Awesome News! You are such an inspiration and we are very proud to have you. What has been one of the most challenging parts of your fitness journey, how have you worked to overcome it?
Nadine: My eating habits. I started tracking my food so I could keep track of my calorie intake, and I have learned to substitute foods. For instance, steamed broccoli instead of fries.
MA Fitness: You are a great role model for others looking to make great changes to their lifestyle. Can you share with us some tips or words of advice for others wanting to get on their journey to wellness?
Nadine: I do Kickboxing, jogging, walking and strength training. Working on my eating habits. lol It seems to have been better when I first started exercising. lol I don’t drink soda anymore. The most important key to it all is having the will and perseverance. Find something you love, and stick with it. I probably wouldn’t have had these results had I not joined the 10 wk self defense course (COBRA). I realized how out of shape I was and I wasn’t happy with that. I decided to sign up for kickboxing. The staff at MA Fitness are wonderful and supportive and long with the support of my family and friends, I found success. Its all about how much you want it. If you want it, get it.
